French Empire Dressing Table, ca. 1805
A classical French Empire dressing table in polished flame mahogany. Supported by four column-shaped legs with gilt bronze capitals. Original black marble top and original mirror sitting in its arched frame, suspended on twin posts with finely detailed gilt bronze finials. One drawer, revealing a writing surface and compartments for jewellery and ointments. Two ‘secret’ drawers to the sides. A similar piece can be seen in Empress Josephine’s dressing room in Chateau de Malmaison. France around 1805.
